Green Fingers in 1st Class

28th Apr 2026
Helena's class had a really interesting Fáilte Friday gardening workshop last week. It was a wonderful example of hands-on learning in action. We were delighted to welcome a parent into the classroom to guide the children through an engaging session on herbs and gardening.
The children explored a variety of herbs, using their senses to touch and smell them while learning about their everyday uses. They were especially excited to plant vegetable seeds in their own homemade mini greenhouses, carefully adding topsoil and getting their hands dirty.
They were also introduced to the concept of plant propagation, which sparked great curiosity and plenty of thoughtful questions. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and engagement throughout the lesson.
A big thank you to our parent volunteer for such an enriching experience. We look forward to watching our plants grow in the weeks ahead.
