On the 18th of June 2026 STEPS Engineering came to Amy’s 5th class to do an exciting workshop with them. They did three fun activities and gave a generous giftđ
The first activity they did with 5th class was a map of their locality because engineers work out stuff. They worked out how to go from point A to point B using the map they made out of paper cut-outs of different locations around the area.
The second activity they did was using their imagination to draw either a rain garden or a bike shed and then got to present them to the class. The third activity and most of the class’s favourite activity was lego building. They got into groups of 4 or 5 and built a home or any building. Then they put cotton, sponges and pipes around it to create drains or ways for the water to flow into a water butt. Then they got to pour water over the building to see how it would float down and soak up. 5th class thought it was so fun to cause destruction.
Lastly STEPS gave us an amazing gift which was a rainplanter.5th class loved the workshop and had an amazing time!
