Wow… What a day! We are beyond proud here in SETNS of our Boys’ Senior G.A.A. Team.

On Tuesday 21st May the boys made their way to Parnell Park, full of nerves and excitement. They had just had a motivational talk from James McCarthy, captain of the Dublin team, to spur them on their way!!

The bus journey consisted of team bonding, tactics, and a lot of laughter.
When we arrived in Parnell Park the excitement grew bigger. A dressing room filled with pride and disbelief that we were sitting where the Dubs sit!

A quick warm up and team chat was had and that was it… we were ready to rock!

The match was nail biting to say the least. The blood, sweat and tears that went into the game was unbelievable. After the first half Ashbourne ETNS were ahead. As Donal and Emily spoke game plan the boys listened intently!!!
The second half was a battle to the end… with 2 minutes to go it is a draw game and then it’s a free for Swords. Fionn O’Connor takes the free and kicks it over the bar in front of the amazing supporters of SETNS. The cheers could be heard all over Dublin!!! A minute later the whistle blows and SETNS are crowned Fingal League Champions!!!

You can probably imagine the bus ride home!!

What an achievement and what a day out for our school. A day we will never forget.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Donal O’Connor (Fionn’s dad) for the time and dedication he has given to the boys and our school for both the Cumann na mBunscoile and Fingal League competitions. We couldn’t have done it without you.
