6th Class Cycling
This week 6th classes have finished their Cycle Training Course with Dr Bike. Over the past six weeks they have covered topics like safe equipment, rules of the road, starting and stopping, road positioning, shoulder checking and turning left and right. The upper yard was transformed into cycle paths, roads and junctions for practising these skills. The training culminated in on-road cycling locally in Miller's Glen. Cycling in small groups, they put their core bike handling skills and awareness of surroundings into practice.
A special congratulations to the former non-cyclists who are now cyclists!
Cycling is a great way to get some exercise and is a sustainable mode of transport that is kind to the environment. It complements our Green Flag (Transport) initiative too!
Many thanks to Eoin and Amanda from Dr Bike, which is aligned to the CYCLE RIGHT programme, for bringing this initiative to SETNS.
