Important Notice Re: Parent/Teacher Meetings: As you know, Parent/Teacher Meetings are scheduled for next Thursday, December 3rd. You will already have received an Invitation Letter from your child’s teacher, specifying your time allocation. Should the school be closed on Thursday, December 3rd as a result of the Public Service Day of Action, then P/T Meetings will take place on the following Wednesday, December 9th. To facilitate maximum time for all Parents/Guardians, the children will go home early: 11:30 a.m. for Infants and 11:45 a.m. for all other classes.
Sincere Thanks! I would like to sincerely thank the school community for supporting our Annual Book Fair on Wednesday and Thursday this week. In particular, I would like to thank Aoife, Book Fair Coordinator, and PTA/Parents who made themselves available to enable the Fair to run so smoothly. Thanks to your support, we can now add to our repository of schoolbooks for all children in the school.
Great Opportunity! Deirdre Moffat has very kindly brought the following opportunity for the school community to my attention. It’s an opportunity for us to support all those affected by the recent prolonged flooding in Ireland. People can take new or nearly new duvets, bed linen, towels and clothing to NEWBARN FARM, Ashbourne. Directions are posted on Ashbourne roundabouts. This can be done on Saturday and Sunday next, November 28th and 29th. Drop offs should take place before 5:00 p.m. All items of bedding and clothing will then be taken directly to affected communities in the West. For further information please contact Deirdre at: 086-3130145. Thank you, Deirdre, for taking this to our attention. I spent last weekend in County Galway and I can assure you the impact of the flooding is devastating for those directly affected. Heartbreaking!
Presentation of Cheque to School: Next Tuesday morning, Swords Credit Union will present a cheque to the Student Council, as the representative group for all Pupils in the school. Swords Credit Union has supported us since 2001 and we greatly appreciate our long-standing, positive relationship. As you know, staff from the Credit Union, come to the school every Tuesday morning to support (and encourage) children, from Senior Infants to Sixth Class, with saving.
New School Athletics Kit: I would like to sincerely thank Ailsa and Alan Sexton for sponsoring our new athletics wear. Alan grew a beard and secured sponsorship for the big shave-off and Ailsa sourced and purchased the T-shirts. They are truly lovely, a navy T-shirt with the school logo on the front and S.E.T.N.S. on the back. Arthur and Emily did a wonderful job of modelling the t-shirts for assemblyJ. Thank you, Ailsa and Alan. So many children will get to wear them, while representing our school at different athletics events. It should be said also that the beard looks mighty, AlanJ. Well done!
School Calendar Goes on Sale: I have had the privilege of seeing the PTA School Calendar for 2010. It really is lovely, featuring all classes in the school. I know that Parents/Guardians love our calendars and you will be delighted to know that they will be going on sale very soon – look out for the PTA pink letter. They will remain on sale while stocks last. Lisa Donaldson, PTA Chairperson, informs me that they will be sold as follows: 1 for €5, 2 for €8 and 3 for €10. Congrats to the PTA on a super production.
I wish you a lovely weekend.
