I hope that you have an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend,that the weather keeps up and we’ll see you all again on Tuesday 8th May. On our return I hope to be in a position to confirm the date and other details for the Official Opening of our new school building. In the meantime,preparations are in motion and as I mentioned before a committee is already planning for this very special event.  Other news from school…

 

GAA Girls Senior Team

Commiserations to all players and staff involved with the SETNS senior GAA girls who played their socks off at this week’s semi-final match. We’re very proud of their achievements in the Fingal League. We hope that they will bounce back with a little help from the local pizza parlour!

 

Date for the Senior Boys GAA final in Parnell Park:Tuesday 15th May at 11 o’clock.

Congratulations to our Senior Boys GAA team on reaching the Fingal League final which will be played on Tuesday 15th May at 11am. We will arrange for 3rd to 6th class pupils to travel by bus to support the team. While all other supporters (parents/guardians) must make their own travel arrangements,we hope that as many of you as possible will be there to support the boys on the day. If you wish to bring along younger siblings please note that usual procedures for children leaving school early with a parent/guardian will apply.

 

Athletics

Congratulations to all 50 pupils who took part in the recent Fingal Athletics League,which finished in Morton Stadium (Santry) on 1/5/12.  Thanks to all the teachers for their assistance and to all the parents who helped with supervision on the day.

 

Change to Standardised Testing Dates

Whole school standardised testing dates for pupils in 1st to 6th classes have been changed to Thursday 10th and Thursday 17th May. We would appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that children attend school on these important dates.

 

Aladdin

Thank you to those of you who have sent in the up-to-date information sheets this week. If you haven’t already done so please send it in as soon as possible. We want to get the Aladdin data management system up and running this term.

 

New Junior Infants:Information Evening Thursday 17th May 2012

Parents/guardians of new Junior Infant pupils (September 2012) have been invited to an Information Evening on Thursday 17th May 2012. We look forward to meeting parents/guardians at this evening event. I recall attending this meeting last May and can hardly believe that a full year has passed already!

 

Women’s Mini Marathon

The Women’s Mini Marathon will take place on Monday June 4th and is one of our annual school fundraising events. A fantastic number of parents have volunteered to run or walk the race and the PTA seek your help with sponsorship to raise much needed funds to benefit our new school building. Details from the PTA have been sent home this week…

 

Run for the Cure 2012

It’s time to get training again;this year’s Run for the Cure will take place on Friday 15th June. As with last year we will be running to raise cancer awareness.  Details to follow in the coming weeks…..

 

Note from SEN Team

From time to time,children from classes may join SEN groups for short periods.  This is very much in keeping with our inclusive ethos.

 

6th Class Family Cookbook

Reminder:6th Class Family Cookbook is available at €10 euro. Proceeds will be used to subsidise our 6th class pupils’ trip to the Gaeltacht in May 2012. Your support for this initiative is very much appreciated!
